Injections for Knee OA

Injections for Knee OA
One aspect of treating knee osteoarthritis that is becoming more common is Hyaluronic acid joint injections. This involves a series of shots, usually 3-5, administered weekly that look to relieve some of the pain associated with knee OA. Hyaluronic acid is a viscous material that is found in synovial joints, such as the knee, and acts to coat the cartilage at the ends of the bones to allow for smoother movements between the contacting surfaces. The results can take 4-12 weeks to occur and can last for several months.
