Abstract
Unlinked, linked and convertible total elbow arthroplasties (TEAs) are currently available. This study is the first to report the clinical results of the convertible Latitude TEA. This was a retrospective study of a consecutive cohort of 63 patients (69 primary TEAs) with a mean age of 60 years (23 to 87). Between 2006 and 2008 a total of 19 men and 50 women underwent surgery. The mean follow-up was 43 months (8 to 84). The range of movement, function and pain all improved six months post-operatively and either continued to improve slightly or reached a plateau thereafter. The complication rate is similar to that reported for other TEA systems. No loosening was seen. Remarkable is the disengagement of the radial head component in 13 TEAs (31%) with a radial head component implanted. Implantation of both the linked and the unlinked versions of the Latitude TEA results in improvement of function and decreased pain, and shows high patient satisfaction at mid-term follow-up. Las artroplastias totales de codo no vinculadas, vinculadas y convertibles (TEAs) son actualmente disponibles. Este estudio es el primero en informar de los resultados clínicos de la TEAs Latitud convertibles. Este fue un estudio retrospectivo de una cohorte consecutiva de 63 pacientes (69 AET primarias) con una edad media de 60 años (23-87). Entre 2006 y 2008 un total de 19 hombres y 50 mujeres se sometieron a cirugía. El seguimiento medio fue de 43 meses (8-84). El rango de movimiento, la función y dolor en todo mejoró a los seis meses después de la cirugía y, o bien continuó mejorando ligeramente o se alcanza una meseta a partir de entonces. La tasa de complicaciones es similar a la reportada para otros sistemas TEA. No se observó aflojamiento. Notable es la retirada de la componente radial de 13 TEAs (31%) con un componente de la cabeza del radio implantado. La implantación de las versiones vinculadas y no vinculadas al de los resultados TEA latitud en la mejora de la función y la disminución del dolor, y muestra una alta satisfacción del paciente a mitad de período de seguimiento.
